For the next decade, ARRC introduces a new research vision: Symbiotic AIR4BTS — Symbiotic Augmented Intelligence for Reality, Bridging Time & Space. Symbiotic AIR is not AI designed to replace humans. It is intelligence that understands both the real world and human intentions, experiences, and relationships, and uses shared experiences to enhance human judgment and action. Our goal is therefore to move from Experience Augmentation toward Augmented Humanity, where humans and AI learn and grow together through shared experiences. To make this vision sustainable, however, we need a common foundation that can connect, accumulate, and share the technologies and experiences developed over the past decade.

ARRC will therefore bring our previously separate research efforts together into an open platform called BTS〈AIR & AMI〉 and share it with partners across academia, research institutes, and industry. AIR (Augmented Intelligence for Reality) understands the state and context of people and the real world in real time, while AMI (Augmented Memory Infrastructure) captures, remembers, and structures human and AI experiences so that they can be shared and transferred across time and space. BTS (Bridge Time and Space) connects AIR and AMI, allowing each experience and research outcome to become a reusable asset for future research, services, and new experiences. Through this open platform, we aim to build a collaborative R&D ecosystem where universities, research institutes, companies, cultural organizations, creators, and citizens can create, share, use, and enrich technologies, data, content, and experiences together.

Our first city-scale challenge will be NewJam Daejeon. We envision Daejeon as a living testbed where people can experience exciting new technologies, cultures, content, and entertainment from around the world—and where citizens and creators can create new K-fun, turn their experiences into shared assets, and bring them to the world. Together with universities, research institutes, companies, cultural organizations, creators, citizens, and global partners, we will test the technological potential and social and cultural value of Symbiotic AIR4BTS in the real world. If our first ten years were about augmenting reality and human experience, our next ten years will be about connecting and sharing those experiences so that humans and AI can build a better future together—our journey toward Augmented Humanity.
